At Sunshine Mental Health, therapy is viewed as a collaborative process where you play a key role in your treatment. Therapy is not a mysterious treatment that is done to you but rather a journey that is made with you so that you can learn to understand yourself better and become more resilient in the future. Therapy is designed to teach you new ways of thinking about the world and coping with its difficulties. Treatment will advance at a pace that is comfortable yet goal-directed. At-home activities are often assigned to support your therapeutic progress between sessions.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment approach that has undergone rigorous scientific testing in order to be classified as a "best practice" for many disorders, specifically depression and anxiety. The treatment focuses on identifying distorted thought patterns, feelings, and behaviours and improving their impact on one another.

Your personal values are important components of therapy. Dr. Kovacs has worked with people from a variety of faith and cultural backgrounds. Therapy is designed to respect the individual needs and values of all people.
